Abstract :

  • Background: It is a general notion that rigorous isolation and custodial measures would reform the offenders of Law. Experience, however, contradicts this expectation and often imprisonment had the opposite effect. This study was conducted to test whether a known system of Yoga Prana Vidya (YPV) intervention can be applied for prisoners to increase their psychological well-being (PWB) and reduce the criminal attitude (CATS).

  • Materials & Method: Pre and Post-test without control group design was adopted for the present study. A mixed method was used to collect the data to see the effect of a 3-month YPV intervention on 30 under-trial prisoners. For Quantitative part of study Psychological well-being (PWB) and Criminal Attitude Test (CATS)were used before and after the intervention. Statistical analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS. Qualitative research interviews were conducted on 10 participants out of the 30 and the interview notes were analyzed.

  • Results: Statistical analysis of quantitative data showed that there was a significantly positive change in the PWB and CATS parameters after the intervention. The qualitative analysis yielded four themes:

    1. YPV is a positively Life-changing phenomenon, easy to practice daily,
    2. Clear Intention to sustain YPV practice after release from jail,
    3. Desirous of promoting, helping and recommending YPV to others to learn and practice, and
    4. Some challenges experienced by participants in the intervention.

  • Conclusions: YPV intervention produced positive results for prisoners who practised regularly. It is recommended that Government agencies and Social Workers may consider these findings for appropriate implementation of YPV in their Prison reform efforts for reducing crime rate and recidivism.

Abstract :

Introduction: Research estimates reveal that over a million bites a year happened in India, of which 70% cases showed symptoms of envenomation. Prevention, prompt and effective treatment strategies would greatly minimise deaths caused by snakebite. This study presents a patient’s case of complicated snake bite (poisonous viper snake) for which the patient sought help from Yoga Prana Vidya (YPV) healers for treatment.

Main symptoms & clinical findings: Gangrenous changes in right hand of bitten thumb and high creatinine levels were found from medical examination. Medical prognosis suggested amputation of entire right hand and Dialysis treatment as the situation worsened for her.

Therapeutic interventions & outcomes: Two YPV healers healed the patient distantly every day for seven days, supported by a senior most healer who gave required additional intensive healing to save the patient. Analysis of data show that gangrenous changes started disappearing after 4 days, and creatinine levels came down to normal within 10 days of healing. There was improved blood flow to right hand with regeneration of tissues and of kidneys. As a result, there was no need to ampute the whole hand, instead, only the bitten thumb was amputed by doctors as a minimal procedure.
Conclusion: Prompt YPV Healing successfully treated the patient thereby avoiding amputation of entire right hand and also avoided dialysis treatment. The evidence gathered from this case indicates that YPV healing is effective in treating complications of snake bite.

Abstract :

Introduction: Rectourethral fistula (RUF) is a rare and debilitating condition. Spontaneous closure is rarely effective, and appropriate management regarding the timing of repair and surgical approach remains debateable. This paper presents a case of a 14 year old mentally challenged male patient suffering over 6
months from RUF and advised surgery, but reluctant to undergo.

Material & Methods:  This is case study method. Considering the patient’s morbid condition, as an alternative the author who is a senior YPV healer started healing treatment using advanced YPV protocols to improve and cure his RUF condition.

Results:  Within 7 days of healing, the severity of the incontinence reduced as observed by the soiling of the bed. Healing continued for 1 month, and the child recovered fully with no urinary incontinence and no recurrence noticed during subsequent yearlong follow up.

Conclusion: Yoga Prana Vidya is an effective alternative modality of conservative management of urinary fistula where other conservative measures failed and where the surgery had to be avoided due to the comorbid condition and reluctance of the child.

Abstract :

Introduction: CVJ (Craniovertebral junction) anomalies are rare but cause troublesome health issues for patients. Complex surgical procedure or conservative management of this condition is the usual medical solution. This case study documents the process and effective outcome of Yoga Prana Vidya Healing as an alternative conservative treatment. Prior medical investigations: A 54 year old Patient with severe debilitating painconsulted a neurosurgeon and a spine surgeon. CT scan and MRI scan revealed CVJ anomalies such as C1 – C2 fusion with Os –odontoideum, cervical disc prolapse with narrowing of foramen magnum without any neurological deficit, but associated with debilitating sub-occipital cervical spasmodic pain, causing limitation of movements of Head & Neck. Therapeutic intervention: The patient tried the Yoga Prana Vidya system which include physical exercises, breathing exercise, planetary peace meditation and advanced YPV healing techniques. Only local analgesic spray and limited systematic pain killers were used. Result: The YPV therapy made her asymptomatic within 10-15 days, the severity of pain reduced after one week, spasm of the neck muscle reduced gradually between 2nd and 3rd months. She regained complete relaxation, painless free movement of head and neck within 3 months. Conclusion: YPV healing therapy worked effectively for controlling the pain associated with torticollis and sub-occipital headache in CVJ abnormalities, and restore the normal movements of the Neck and Head without using conventional analgesic and traction therapy. CVJ anomalies can be safely managed conservatively by the yoga prana Vidya (YPV) therapy.

Abstract :

Various factors inside and outside the school contribute for the level of academic performance of high school students, such as professionalism, skills and abilities on the part of the teachers; provision of library facilities, laboratory, appropriate teaching-learning processes and instructional strategies; effective communication between the individuals; formation of good terms and conditions and usage of technology and evaluation methods. The other factors tha influence the academic performance of the students are home environment, financial position of their families, conditions of poverty, provision of tuitions and assistance at home, counselling and guidance, occurrence of conflicts and disputes, potential employment opportunities, household chores, needs and requirements of other family members and occasional domestic violence and criminal acts. The attitude a student takes towards his/her education also is an important determinant of academic performance. Several studies have been reported on positive effects of meditation on student performance. The authors conducted this qualitative outcome study to explore the effects of planetary peace meditation (PPM) on the academic performance of 10th class students after 8 months of practicing PPM of the Yoga Prana Vidya System (YPV). The findings show positive influence of PPM on the SSLC examination results. This outcome encouraged the managements of other schools in the surrounding area also to adopt PPM in their daily programme. The authors conclude that despite methodological limitations in the study, there is prima facie evidence to show that the PPM process of YPV is highly useful in academic environment, and can be adopted in all educational institutions for better academic and overall results of students and the performance of teachers as well.
